Welcome to the Farm! This is where the action is—plenty to keep us busy all year ‘round. During the 2005 season, we’ll be tending 20 acres of strawberries, 8 acres of olallieberries and blackberries, 15 acres of broccoli and cauliflower, 15 acres of artichokes, 3 acres of peas, and 3 acres of kiwi’s. The balance of the 200 acres we lease (in five different locations!) will be in cover crops or in dry-fallow.

The complexity of our task lends itself well to a decentralized management system, giving many people the opportunity to undertake responsibility for various aspects of the farm.
Each ranch needs someone to manage the irrigation system and other infrastructure, and each crop has its own specialists,  Then there is production management,  harvest management, sales and distribution, human relations, and the farm stand and U-picks. Lots to coordinate every day! Jim Cochran’s job as general manager is to keep a close eye on all of it and make sure everyone has the training and equipment to do their job well. Perhaps most importantly, his job is to make sure everyone enjoys their job and works together toward our common goal—to bring you the best-tasting food we can.
